Children’s Religious Education and Worship During COVID
As our COVID pandemic continues and our church is closed, the Story for All Ages will start up again on May 2nd on Zoom. Members of the fellowship will be reading stories to the children and adults from 10:00-10:30 AM. Participants can then log into the church service when we are finished. This can be a time for the whole family to engage in conversation about Unitarian Universalist principles at the child’s level. If you would like to take a turn reading a story or to get the Zoom link to hear the story, please contact our Children’s RE Administrator, Sarah Sutherland at email@example.com.
Children ages 6 months through 2 years old are welcome to come to the Nursery Room for inquisitive interactive playtime, reading, art, and music during Sunday Services. The nursery operates from 10 am until the end of service every Sunday. It is very important for us to make sure that your children are comfortable and feel safe during their time with us in our Fellowship. We work very closely with a contracted Nanny Service to offer that the same Nanny is with us every week, she is also certified in infant and child CPR.
You will be asked to register your child and provide your cell phone number in case your child needs you during the service. If you want to keep your child with you there is a soundproof Quiet Room in the back of the sanctuary where you can listen to the sermon and music while attending to your child.
Children and Youth – ages 3–18-years-old:
All children and youth are welcome to join us in our Sunday School from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Parents will have the opportunity to stay with their children/youth and participate in our programs at any time, especially if you are new to our church and want to learn what we do for worship or programming. On identified Sundays during the year, children/youth will join the congregation in the Sanctuary for a Story for All Ages. On the other Sundays, the children will have their own chalice lighting service in the Sunday School Building and then transition to their programming.
Other opportunities that we have for children and youth are: A Children/Youth Choir, youth sharing in reading the Chalice Story, Social Action and Green Sanctuary activities, planning Game Nights, participating in the Christmas Cheer Project for needy families, continuing the Under the Sea art work for the Nursery and many more activities.
