Children and Family Ministries – June

From Sarah Grenier

I am still reminiscing about our child dedication service! I am amazed we have so many families committing themselves to Unitarian Universalism. Our congregation is so honored to have you all with us, that you entrust us with the faith formation of your children.

To me, it’s also important to be grounded in the world around us, in nature. I cherish the blessing with the elements at the dedication. I hope your kids will put a dab of the communion water on their wrists when they need some strength from their community. I hope they light their candle on their birthday to be thankful for another year around the sun. I hope the rose reminds them of their fragility and the need to rely on each other. I hope they think of the seagull perched on the edge of a vast ocean reminding us to dream big but also reminding us we are such a small piece of the divine, connected universe.

In the RE classroom, we are working to establish our class covenant and learn how to uphold it with each other. We’ve welcomed many new faces this month.

In the nursery, we need volunteers for every Sunday in June and July! Tell me if you want to help out, and sign up in Breeze if you are already on the volunteer list.

We’re so glad all our kids are playing together, and I’m glad everyone feels safe letting their kids do so at church. However, we have some concerns about letting the children play together outside, unsupervised, especially without a fence to keep them contained. Let’s work together to keep our village safe; while the children are outside, please make sure an adult is outside with them.

I want to give a BIG thank you to the members who have chosen to sponsor a basket! We can’t wait to see your creations. Please let me know if you have any questions about the materials.
