Accessibility and Inclusion
During the course of planning for building of our new church, a task force was created to assess and review what will be necessary for all people with different abilities to fully participate in our church.
THE QUIET ROOM: The quiet room will be right off the sanctuary for families to use. If children are having a tough day and parents still want to listen to the service, they can use this peaceful room for quiet play or comfort. The room will be soundproof, but will have speakers so to hear the service.
MOBILITY: When our new building is completed, there will be wheelchair accessibility throughout our church and Sunday School building. In the foyer and the Sunday School Building you will find easy access to handicapped bathrooms, two in the foyer and two in the Sunday School building. Entering the sanctuary, you will find it very easy to maneuver with wide aisles and a roomy section behind the chairs. If you are in a wheelchair and want to sit with your family in the middle of the sanctuary, we will move chairs so you can sit together as a family.
HEARING IMPAIRED: We are in the planning stages for equipment that will be used for hearing impaired congregants to hear the morning service, music and other activities that take place in the sanctuary.
VISUALLY IMPAIRED: Please ask one of our greeters when you enter our church if you need assistance to a chair in the sanctuary for the service. A member of our fellowship will assist you in navigating to other rooms as well. We have large-print hymnals available. Throughout the church, you will notice that our doors have navy trim for an easier time locating room entrances. If you would like to have a tour of the church or Sunday School prior to attending, please contact our Minister or office assistant for a tour at 252-240-2283 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: If you have adult(s) or child(ren) in the family that have special needs, please let us know if we can assist you in having the best experience possible by filling out our CONTACT US form.
ENVIRONMENTAL/CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY: In our church, we recognize that allergies are everywhere around us. We use odorless candles in our adult and children’s worship services, and we also remind congregants to be sensitive to fragrances and chemicals for others’ health and comfort.
