This is the school that UCF is supporting through the organization Sister Communities of San Ramon Nicaragua (SCSRN)  The name of the school is Maria Jesus Olivas and the writing on the wall says “Our School is Safe”.  Recently our donations bought traditional dance costumes for the school (Nicaraguan dance is part of the national curriculum) and some teaching materials.  Next year our donation will be used to repair the school’s latrine.  The school decides how to use the money we donate.

We have supported Sister Communities of San Ramon for many years through our Social Action Committee budget.  Many of our members have gone on their annual Ecotours and our late member Ann Rivers was a frequent visitor to Nicaragua and often worked with the children in Los Popitos, a clinic/rehab for children with disabilities that is supported by SCSRN.
