First In-Person Service on May 8th!

On Sunday, May 8th, we will have our first in-person service in our new Sanctuary!  This is NOT our grand opening but rather a “soft opening” so that we can start getting used to our beautiful new space.  There is still much to be done – sorting, putting things away, stocking our kitchen, and much more. The Sally B. White Center (formerly “annex”) still has lots of boxes and furniture that we haven’t decided where to place yet.

But we will be together again!  And we will take care of all this as we get settled in.

Members and Friends received this email from our Board President, Melva Kearney on Tuesday, May 3rd:

Your Board of Trustees met this morning to review the COVID protocol for our first in-person service on May 8th in our new sanctuary. The decisions we made were based on the most recent CDC information and the following words from the UUA:

“Whether the CDC says vaccinated people do or don’t need masks, the CDC’s guidance is about individuals. As congregations, our decisions about masking or un-masking need to be about community. We are in covenant with one another to act not just as a collection of individuals, but as a body that works for the good of all”.

The COVID protocol for the May 8, 2022 worship service includes:

1.    1. Vaccination is required, but proof of vaccination is not.

2.     2. Masks are required for all persons 5 and over.

3.     3. Maintain comfortable social distance as you are able.

4.     4. Physical contact and hand-shaking only when both parties are comfortable with it.

5.     5. There will be no Coffee Hour at this time.

This protocol will be reviewed again on May 12th, before our next service. The congregation will be informed of any changes after that date.
